...a joyous festive season bursting with sunshine & laughter…

Wishing all of you a joyous festive season bursting with sunshine & laughter

We’d like to thank everyone who has supported Cuie this year and have chosen to grow with us in this first year of opening our doors. We’ve had the opportunity to work with amazing people on so many wonderful projects from Plant Hire (the construction type) to liquor stores. Luckily no alcohol was consumed while operating heavy machinery ;)

If you’d like to contribute to making South Africa a better place visit www.makechristmasmatter.co.za or www.gifts4good.co.za for some virtual gifts with a conscience.

Have a wonderful holiday and we’ll catch up in the new year – with an updated site and some new work on show.

Happy Holidays! :)

Charlene & Andy

I got the most amazing present for my birthday this year! For those who remember my landing page that was up while our website was under construction…

A little reminder of Cuie on the way...A little reminder of Cuie on the way…

Well, 2 weeks ago we got to take a road trip all over the Cape Peninsula in The REAL thing! A little BMW Isetta from 1958! Yes, it is a REAL BMWyou! We had such a fun day in this little Naartjie and if I did not have ears my smile would have gone right around my face! :)))

It's a BMWyou!It’s a BMWyou!

First we took a drive over Kloofnek to test the waters – we made it over the mountain! Phew! Various photo opportunities presented itself in Camps Bay & Sea Point – thereafter a quick coffee in De Waterkant followed by a road trip to Franschoek at 60km/h on an ominously cloudy day – and here is the funny part – NO lights & NO wipers! We were told to ‘just use your hands’. Right!

Thank you Karla & Andy for an amazing day in the little Naartjie!

For those in Cape Town and looking for a fun adventure in a classic car – visit www.motorclassic.co.za.

Logo to appear in Logo Lounge.
I was so excited to hear that one of my logo’s has been chosen to be published in the fourth edition of LogoLounge - this is basically one of THE ‘design bibles’ for designers looking for inspiration on what’s out there in terms of new logo styles and corporate identity trends. The judges for this edition were Louis Lygo of Wolff Olins, Jerry Kuyper of Jerry Kuyper Partners, Jason Schulte of Office, Gaby de Abreu of Switch Branding & Design, Haley Johnson of Haley Johnson Design, Neville Brody of Research Studios, Janet Martin of Communication Arts, Inc. and Chris Campbell of Interbrand were faced with a mammoth task! Each judge reviewed thousands of logos from around the world. With a total of over 28,000 logos judged, the judges chose 2,000 and the final collection is not only an excellent point-in-time examination, it is full to the brim with inspiration, higher thinking, and craftsmanship. The new book will be released by Rockport Publishers in February of 2008.

Hi all,

Commenting for Charlene’s post: “Winter has arrived…” appears to have broken. Not sure what has happened but I’m working to resolve it.

Thanks to those of you who have tried, hopefully your comments are not lost in the ether forever.

Cheers, Andy

...and so has our website. 3 designs, 4 reverts, a stubborn developer, a slave driving designer and 15 milo (err, maybe a bit more) tins later. Cuie Creative has finally gone live today!

A special thank you to our ‘personal pimp’ Marcel and Declan who always believed in us! :) We did it Dex and just in time for your Birthday! Hip-hip-hooray!

Things we have learnt from this experience is that designing and building your own site is not easy. But the best thing of it all is that we’re still together!

Do come back and read our future posts – from news updates, scribbles & scrapbook entries. :)
